The digital transmission of data underpins ever-larger parts of our daily lives and fundamental societal functions. The internet is a form of infrastructure, just like the electricity supply and the road network.
Whilst we are becoming increasingly dependent on digital solutions, we are simultaneously losing insight into and control over essential parts of our shared infrastructure. We know very little about how data is transmitted and processed, or about how tech companies set the terms for our digital lives.
The Think Tank for Digital Infrastructure promotes the development of robust, sustainable and democratic digital societies. We do this by providing insight into the technical and economic frameworks for internet-based communication and by placing digital infrastructure on the political agenda.
