Magnora Data Center, a developer of data center projects and owner of selected data center operations with presence in Northern Europe and Italy, has, as part of its ongoing partnership with Blix Group AS, acquired an operating data center in Oslo from an international telecom operator.
The acquisition is the third site in MDATA's metro strategy: a network of connected, urban centers in Oslo and around greater Oslo, located close to end users and serving latency-sensitive and sovereign clouds. MDATA will own 75% and Blix Group 25% of the facility. The data centre comprises approximately 1,400 m2 with up to 2MW of IT load and may be easily upgraded to meet the EN 50600 Availability Class 3 / Tier III standard.
The site is connected to existing fibre networks, giving low-latency access to enterprises and end users across the Oslo region. Blix will also connect the site to its own fibre network, linking it with the other MDATA and Blix sites in Oslo. A district heating off-taker is being evaluated for the full heat capacity and cooling, further reducing its CO? footprint.
"This project strengthens our partnership with Blix Group and adds a new, near-term deliverable to our Oslo data center pipeline. Taking over an operating facility gives us a fast track to revenue. With up to 2 MW of capacity, strong security and robust fibre connectivity, the site is well suited to serve customers who need low latency, high availability, and their data kept in Norway," says Erik Sneve, Chairman of Magnora Data Center ASA.
