HitecVision has become co-owner of Lyse's Altibox Carrier. Together they will build a Nordic platform for high-speed fiber infrastructure serving the data center industry.

Altibox Carrier currently owns and operates several strategic fiber routes between Norway and Europe, including the subsea cables NO-UK and Skagenfibre, as well as terrestrial infrastructure from Oslo to Stavanger. Its customer base includes leading global players in data centers and cloud services.

HitecVision will acquire a 50 percent ownership stake in what is currently a wholly owned subsidiary of Lyse. Through the joint venture structure, carved-out from Lyse, the new independent company will gain access to both capital and industrial expertise to realize an ambitious growth plan in the Nordic fiber infrastructure market.

“Together, we will develop the company into a leading provider of high-capacity fiber networks for the global market. With HitecVision, we gain a partner with strong execution capabilities and proven experience within both energy and digital infrastructure,” says incoming CEO of Lyse, Rosalie Poen.

The company plans to invest in further development of existing networks, construction of new strategic routes with pre-signed customers, and acquisitions of small and medium-sized fiber operators in the Nordics. The goal is to meet the explosive growth in data traffic and the need for robust and sustainable connections between data centers.

“Altibox Carrier represents an opportunity to build a scalable platform at the intersection of digitalization and the green transition. In partnership with Lyse, we aim to leverage our expertise in company building and digital infrastructure to position Altibox Carrier as a leading provider of high-speed fiber networks for the growing data center industry in Northern Europe,” says Erlend Basmo Ellingsen, CEO of HitecVision.

Altibox Carrier will continue to be headquartered in Stavanger and will be developed as an independent company with its own board and management.
