Guldborgsund Kommune and GARBE Data Centers have announced plans to establish a large-scale, sustainable data center campus in Business Park Falster.
Garbe Data Centers is a team of data center experts, backed by European real estate developer Garbe. The proposed facility will cover approximately 35 hectares, with a potential investment of up to DKK 20 billion (€2,6bn). When completed, it will be among the largest data center projects in Europe. The campus will include up to nine modular data centers with a total capacity of around 350 MW, designed to serve both hyperscale and enterprise customers. The project is expected to generate substantial local economic growth over the next decade.
According to GARBE Data Centers, Denmark offers highly attractive conditions for sustainable data centre investment, with Business Park Falster providing strong infrastructure, renewable energy access, and regional collaboration opportunities.
“It is our ambition to develop a data center campus of international top quality, combining cutting-edge technology and design with a focus on renewable energy and high environmental responsibility", said Jonathan Henry, Executive Managing Director of GARBE Data Centers. "At the same time, we want the project to contribute positively to the local community in North Falster. With our experience and expertise, we are confident that we can deliver a project that sets new standards for innovation, sustainability, and local value.”
Henrik Hansen, CEO of Datacenter Industrien, noted that the project underscores Denmark’s international reputation in digital infrastructure: “This announcement underlines Denmark’s continued strength as a destination for responsible, large-scale digital infrastructure. It is a clear example of how international investors see Denmark as a safe, stable and sustainable location to build and operate high-performance data centers. We are particularly pleased to see a strong focus on renewable energy, heat reuse and community integration.”
“This is a historic day for Guldborgsund Municipality", said Mayor Simon Hansen. "With the sale of 35 hectares of commercial land, we are making the largest land transaction in the municipality’s history and attracting an investment of a scale normally seen only in national mega-projects. The data center will create many jobs, growth, and a stronger position for our area in the green, digital future. I look forward to working with GARBE Data Centers to ensure that the project becomes a reality.”
