Arendal Municipality is selling a plot of land for 600 million kroner (about €53 million) to Bulk Infrastructure.
Bulk Infrastructure – a Nordic developer and operator of sustainable digital infrastructure that operates data centers, fiber networks and industrial real estate – will buy the land at Longum Nord from Arendal for 600 million kroner. It aims to have a 150MW grid connection by the end of 2029.
Arendal Municipality bought the land for 200 million kroner (about €18 million) to use for a new recycling facility for Agder renovasjon, which had to be moved because the Morrow battery factory needed more space. Morrow however, went backrupt earlier this year.
Acting mayor Inger Brokka de Ruiter has stated Arendal has far too much debt and that the money will be used to pay off some of it. The opposition leader in Arendal City Council Anders Kylland (Frp) has said that the sum for the land sale is so high that no is not an option.
