Sunly, an Estonian energy producer who develops renewable energy projects in the Baltics and Poland, has submitted a detailed planning application to build the largest data center in the Baltics near the Risti hamlet in Lääne-Nigula municipality. The total cost of which could exceed 1.7 billion euros.
According to the company, the 180 MW data center campus would be the largest electricity consumer in Estonia and would create over 150 new jobs. Founded in 2019, Sunly operates 1GW of renewable power generation from solar and wind farms across Estonia, Latvia, and Poland.
"We want to create the conditions for the necessary infrastructure to be created in Estonia for the implementation of artificial intelligence. The location of the cross allows us to link local renewable energy production and large-scale electricity consumption. This will provide certainty for our electricity production and create new technological capabilities for Estonia," said Sunly CEO Priit Lepasepp to Lääne Elu newspaper.
