Thylander Data Centers, which is developing Denmark’s first Danish-owned and -operated hyperscale data center, is now backed by a number of high-profile Danish investors.
The investor base in TYDC will now include Systematic Holding Aps by Michael Holm, Sagitta Ventures Aps, WECO A/S and E. Bank Lauridsen Holding A/S. Several of the new investors have long-standing relationships with Thylander from previous funds and all bring valuable skills to the platform.
“We are well underway in developing our first data center in Esbjerg, but this is just the beginning of the journey towards building a leading data center platform in the Nordics. The four new partners in TYDC all bring unique competencies that make our platform stronger and more scalable. Over the past year, we have worked hard to build deep operational competencies and a long-term development pipeline for a leading platform in Danish hands. It is a great pleasure to reach this milestone, and we could not wish for a better ownership group in TYDC,” says Bjarke Mikkelsen , CEO of Thylander.
TYDC is led by Anders Frich Mathiesen, who is also the Chairman of the Board of Directors of Danish Data Center Industry (DDI) and has more than 10 years of experience in building and operating data centers across the Nordic and European markets. The new Danish platform has the competencies to develop, build and operate Danish data centers as well as to raise capital and manage investments in different stages of the projects.
“Denmark has all the prerequisites to host world-class digital infrastructure: Green energy, grid connection, solid regulatory framework and geopolitical security. With TYDC, we want to create a Danish platform that can deliver at scale while meeting the highest standards of security, sustainability and operational excellence,” says Anders Frich Mathiesen .
Michael Holm, who is recognized as one of Denmark's absolute leading IT personalities, speaks on behalf of the investors: “We have been working closely with the Thylander team for the past six months and see exactly the energy and willpower needed to put Denmark on the map as a serious player in data centers. Through Systematic, we are experiencing first-hand the demand for this type of digital infrastructure - and it will only accelerate in the coming years. It is a pleasure to be part of the journey, and we look forward to helping where we can to build the platform.”
